Our story…
It all started in 2007 with a creative writing class called English The Creative Way in The College @ Ystrad Mynach. There were four students who were keen to learn to write and in 2008 they won the Niace Learner Of The Year award – the first time the award had been given to a group.
College cutbacks came, the @ college closed and we took up residence in the ice-box that was the OAP Hall in Park Lane.
The class grew in number and the writing went from strength to strength. By 2014, there were twelve members and we’d
published our first book – the poetry collection Dyed Hair, Lipstick And Steroids. The group now had a name – Caerphilly Scribes – and had outgrown the college so we made the unanimous decision to go it alone.
In September 2015 we won a Community Learning Award and became the resident writing group at Caerphilly library. You’ll find us there at 12.45 each Thursday.
Good Afternoon,
Please could you let me know whether this course runs a few times a year or whether it is just February to mAy.
Many Thanks,
Jude Lewis

Hi Jude, the course isn’t formally structures so it’s possible to join at any time. The morning group, from 10.30 – 12.30, is small and not for absolute beginners. The afternoon group, 12.24 – 3.00 is larger.
